Cabbage’s New Friend – The Foodies Veggie Patch Cabbage Story for February

In our cabbage story from the February vegetable patch, Cabbage makes a new friend but that new friend gets him into trouble when he doesn’t own up to a mistake.

The Foodies bring you vegetable patch stories for every month of the year, and all the characters, scenery and weather are in season that month.

February’s story features cabbages, which are not only in the shops but still visible in veggie patches and allotments in the UK. Children can enjoy Cabbage’s fun adventure and then learn all about how cabbages grow, go and find some in the shops (or bring one in from the garden!) and cook a lovely cabbage recipe from the back of the book.

This story is all about making friends and owning up to our mistakes and the free downloads build on that theme.

In this story, Cabbage makes a new friend, an overexcited little mouse, and when his new friend makes a mess and then leaves Cabbage to take the blame, he is very cross.

The story lends itself to discussions of owning up to our mistakes and telling the truth. Our free downloadable activities this month explore the theme of truth and lies in more depth, with games about hiding truths, finding out facts about friends and using evidence to know what is true.
