In our pear story from the November vegetable patch, Pear has lost her leaf and enlists her friends help to explore the garden to find it.

The Foodies bring you vegetable patch stories for every month of the year, and all the characters, scenery and weather are in season that month.

November’s story features pears, which are coming to an end on the trees now but are lovely and juicy in storage in the UK. Children can enjoy Pear’s fun adventure and then learn all about how pears grow, go and find some in the shops (or their own garden store!) and cook a lovely pear recipe from the back of the book.

This story is all about problem solving and working together and the free downloads build on that theme.

It was a damp grey November day in the garden. Pear was in a panic. Pear had lost the lovely leaf from her head…

In this story, Pear has lost her leaf and she really can’t find it. Her friends help her to explore the garden but they only find other bits and pieces. Will she ever get her leaf back?

The story lends itself to discussions of how we face and solve problems.  Our free downloadable activities explore the theme of problem solving in more depth, with activities exploring how to cope when we feel anxious, how to work out solutions for problems, and find examples of problem solving in stories.
